How does the tool find cities along the route?
We trace the straight-line corridor between your two cities and identify populated places whose coordinates fall within a set distance band of that corridor. Each stop is tagged with its approximate position as a percentage of the total journey so you can gauge where along the route it sits.
Are the stops listed in order along the route?
Yes. Cities are sorted by their position along the route from start to finish, so the first result is the earliest stop you would encounter after leaving your origin and the last is closest to your destination.
Does this account for actual roads or just a straight line?
The corridor is based on the straight-line path between the two cities. Real road routes may curve around mountains, coastlines, or city centres, so a town that appears on the straight-line corridor might be a short detour — or exactly on your motorway route. Always confirm stops with a navigation app.
How many cities are shown?
We list the most notable towns and cities within the corridor, typically between 5 and 20 depending on how densely populated the region is. Smaller villages and hamlets are filtered out to keep the list useful for planning overnight stops and breaks.
